What are RESERVATION REQUESTS ?

A “reservation request” or just “reservation” is a rather unique concept to Night City Vinyl. It is a way to reserve a record that is not yet in inventory. In purpose, it is the same as placing the release on “pre-order” with the label or artist - and you’re guaranteed to have the option to purchase the record, once it arrives at Night City Vinyl. No monies are collected at the reservation stage, because while we know that this record is coming (and it has your name on it, if you’ve reserved it), we don’t yet know what the final price will be. Lastly, reservation requests will land you on an email list providing updates about when the record is expected to arrive, and again when it does arrive - with instructions on how to purchase your reserved copy.

What are PRE-ORDERS ?

Pre-Ordering a title from Night City Vinyl works slightly differently than reservation requests. In the case of pre-order records, we do know the exact pricing on the release - and the action of pre-ordering guarantees your copy, much the same way that a reservation request does. When pre-ordering a record, it will automatically ship to you immediately upon availability.

Can I RESERVE a release, instead of PRE-ORDERING ?

The short answer is no. Releases slated for future inventory at Night City Vinyl will exist in one of two statuses before arrival: RESERVATIONS OPEN or PRE-ORDERS OPEN.

Further clarifications:

Reservations Open: We’re measuring interest in a particular release, or group of releases. Based upon reservation activity - we will learn how many to order. Due to this helping us measure interest in a valuable way, we show our appreciation by not requiring any funds up-front (also because we often don’t yet know the absolute best price we’re able to extend just yet). It adds an additional step to the purchase process; the need to purchase the record upon it’s arrival. Don’t worry, we’ll email you right away, keep you informed of the progress, and glad to answer any status updates you may wish to request. PRE-ORDERS do not require this additional step upon arrival of inventory, as they’ve already been paid for.

Pre-Orders Open: This release on the way, the best price possible has been determined - and we’re able to complete the transaction at this stage. After the PRE-ORDER of a title, you’re all set! No need for follow-up emails, it ships to you immediately after arrival at Night City Vinyl. We will of course advise of any changes in expected ship dates - should they occur.

What are RESTOCK REQUESTS?

A restock request is like a RESERVATION REQUEST, only for a title we’ve had before - and are currently sold out of. Submitting a RESTOCK REQUEST - will help us learn how many to order when replenishing quantities of a title. No payment is needed, and you’ll receive an update when the title is available - giving you the option to obtain a copy before it is placed in general inventory. Although no payment is needed, submitting this request guarantees your ability to purchase the title once available.

My shipping total shows $999, what’s happening?

You must have put together quite a large order - and are looking to have it shipped to an international destination. Due to the size, weight, and changing prices for International Shipping - we just need to build you a custom quote.
